Todays the day

Todays the Day

‘Todays the day’ a voice whispers. You ignore it, curling back over into the safety of your bed. ‘Todays the day’ the voice then demands. You give into it; rolling out of the covers. You work on automatic; bumbling around your apartment, just as you have done the past month. You go to put on slippers but the voice disagrees. ‘ Todays the day.’ The shoes are on and your at the door, fear bubbling inside you. They said the fear of leaving would subside. When? Door open you step into the sun. The fear ebbs away. Today’s the day.
